Is Nothing Sacred Anymore?

Every now and again I have a fanciful notion that I am going to sneak a moment to myself. No I am not a greedy, over indulgent sole who likes to shower oneself in solitary moments of bliss. I don't need hours in the week for manicures, pedicures, haircuts, in fact any personal grooming but today I had an overwhelming desire to be able to spend just one moment to myself to go to the toilet.

What has happened to me? Just over 5 short years ago I was an entirely different person. I had a mildly important job working with intelligent people, in fact I was lucky enough to have people working for me (and they didn't follow me to the toilet). I got up in the morning, I did some form of exercise by myself, I worked all day, generally doing hours of overtime by myself, I went home, my husband and I discussed our day over a nice meal, watched some TV or saw a movie, went to bed and slept undisturbed until it all started again.

Today as I tried to escape my three children for just one small moment so I could just do a wee, I had a mild panic attack. Could it be that I may never wee by myself again? Ok, it's a slight exageration but as they clambered at the door of the toilet, asking me what I was doing I can honestly tell you it did cross my mind!

Social Networking - When is a friend really a friend?

Just recently Tina and I experienced rejection. It may seem harsh but in the cold hard light of day that is what it was! Social networking rejection none-the-less.

I can hear you thinking "What is she on about?" and quite honestly that is a question that I quite often ask myself! In this instance I am referring to the rejection that you experience when you realise that someone has literally dumped (or should I say forceably removed) you as a "friend" on Facebook.

In the very recent past Tina and I shared the experience. Funny how these things come about but long story short, I was describing something to Tina that I had seen on Facebook through a mutual friend's page, she went to look for it to discover that low and behold, friendship over, she had been ditched. Me being me thought she just wasn't looking in the right place so logged on to show her and, uh oh you're out of there too Emma!

Don't ask me why this dumping occured. We certainly don't remember offending our ex-facebook friend. Funnier still we are sure we were both invited to be friends! Perhaps this person had priors as a "friend grabber" and decided they required more meaningful relationships in their life or perhaps my Facebook dormancy proved too tedious or perhaps it is Facebook Sport - lull them into a false sense of friendship security and when they are least expecting it, hit them with it! Something tells me that if I really bothered to look into it, this wouldn't be my first dumping nor will it be my last.

Regardless it begs the question, in this fickle world of social networking when is a friend really a friend?
